Robert Raine is an Associate Executive Consultant with atmaana and leads the Security sector, providing advice to public and private sector clients.
Since 2013, he has provided bespoke advice to major UK and US companies, as well as to the British and Foreign governments. Additionally, he has supported reviews of security plans at major events for top management and senior politicians and also developed strategy for government engagement in a future major multi-sport event in Asia.
Robert holds extensive experience from his career in the Senior Civil Service, as a programme leader and specialist in security and major events delivery.
Robert’s career began in the Ministry of Defence, moved through the Joint Intelligence Organisation in the Cabinet Office and the Department for Culture Media and Sport to the Home Office.
Whilst in the Cabinet Office, Robert advised the Cabinet Secretary on the Government’s intelligence requirements, funding and organisation of the security and intelligence agencies, and their oversight arrangements.
He has also led the Government’s interests in the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester.
Robert led several major programmes for the Home Office, including identity cards delivery, police force collaboration, and the development of regional counter-terrorism units.
Between 2008 and 2012, Robert was the Director of Olympic Security responsible for delivering the Government’s security guarantees to the International Olympic Committee for the 2012 London Games.
He is a member of the Government's advisory panel on major events. He was also part of the team that produced the review of investigatory powers for the British government, published in June 2015.
