Steve Kemsley is Director of Security and Emergency Services at atmaana. His extensive police experience and operational expertise have earned him a respected position in today’s security industry.

He has worked across all departments and facets within the security field, from consultative roles and operational planning to business strategy and delivery.

As a Senior Police Manager, he has been a Gold and Silver Commander of many major events (upwards of 60,000+ crowds) and has also performed the role of Security Coordinator at many more including the England Rugby World Cup Victory parade and Live8.

He has completed the National Security Coordinators Course (Counter Terrorism), the Management of Disaster and Civil Emergency (MODACE) and the Metropolitan Police ‘Events Commanders Course’.

As well as working for the Organising Committee of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games and the Yas Marina Circuit, staging the 2010 Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix, Steve has worked as the Industry Liaison lead within the Home Office’s Office for Security and Counter Terrorism. He was the project manager who delivered the logistic support to the policing of the London 2012 Olympics – managing a budget of over £105m.

Recently Steve has worked with

  • Lockheed Martin on their successful bid to deliver the Command & Control Futures programme to the Metropolitan Police Service in London
  • Virgin Trains East Coats (VTEC) franchise to write their interim Security Plan, providing VTEC with the firm foundation to continuously improve their excellent security record inherited from East Coast
  • Cyprus Sports Organisation and Ministry of Justice, designing ticket systems linked to biometrics to reduce violence at sporting events – particularly football.

Steve has first-hand experience of partnering with others to provide proportionate security advice and security planning for many events and operations.
