General Sir Kevin O’Donoghue, KCB, CBE, is Chairman of the atmaana Defence Board. With his career in the British Army, where he also served as an accomplished Chief of Defence Materiel, Sir Kevin brings an outstanding wealth of senior experience to atmaana.

Sir Kevin has built strong, established relationships across the defence sector and the wider government arena, at both national and international levels. His early career was with the Royal Engineers on a Territorial Army commission and he attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He later commanded the 25 Engineer Regiment, where he was deployed to the Falkland Islands.

After graduating from the UK Higher Command and the NATO Defence College, Sir Kevin became Director of Staff Operations at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe. He then served as Assistant Chief of General Staff at the Ministry of Defence (MOD).

On promotion to Lieutenant General, he became the UK Military Representative to NATO and the EU, and the following year was made Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff (Health). Sir Kevin successfully restored the relationship between the NHS and MOD for the training and development of Defence medical personnel.

In 2005, he was appointed General and served as Chief of Defence Logistics, where he was responsible for streamlining the logistic processes of the Navy, Army and RAF towards a more business-oriented structure.

Two years later Sir Kevin became Chief of Defence Materiel where he led the strategic review of defence acquisition, before successfully implementing the change programme of merging the Defence Procurement Agency and the Defence Logistic Organisation.

Sir Kevin retired from the British Army in March 2011 and is now the Chairman of the national military charity, Soldiers', Sailors' and Airmen's Families Association (SSAFA).
