Peter Maddison is Chairman of atmaana’s Emergency Services and Security Sector. He has strong expertise in leading transformational programmes involving workforce, organisation and cultural change.
Peter’s career in the police force spanned over 30 years, during which time he served in senior positions for the Durham and Hertfordshire Constabularies, as well as leading the Northamptonshire Constabulary as Chief Constable. Whilst on the Cabinet of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), Peter was part of the group that guided the strategic direction of the national police service, and was personally responsible for the performance management framework for policing.
After leaving the police force, Peter led the programme responsible for the sourcing, funding and delivery of all the police officers deployed during the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games. He also provided strategic policing advice to senior stakeholders responsible for the delivery of the Games.
Peter is currently a member of the Prison Service Pay Review Body, where he provides advice to the Government on the pay of prison officers and staff in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
In addition, since January 2016, Peter is one of the six Local Government Boundary Commissioners for England who are tasked by Parliament to ensure democratic accountability is as effective as possible.
