Peter Harris is Chairman of atmaana, overseeing corporate governance and strategy. He also provides consultancy services to atmaana’s clients in the Defence sector.
He is a chartered accountant with a BA (Hons) in Economics and Accountancy from the University of Sheffield. After qualifying with Grant Thornton he moved to PWC, and later joined Borden Inc., a Fortune 50 multinational food packaging and industrial products company, where he spent 13 years in a variety of senior financial roles in South Africa, the UK and the USA.
In 1994, Peter was appointed Finance Director of Lex Service PLC, a FTSE250 leading automotive services provider. In 1999, Lex acquired the RAC and Peter became Group Managing Director of the Automotive Solutions Division, which included the commercial vehicle leasing and distribution businesses, the supply chain operations and Lex Defence. He was additionally responsible for spearheading the group’s drive into the major corporate and public sector markets. Following the acquisition of RAC plc by Aviva plc, Peter was appointed Chief Executive of Dawson Holdings PLC, the media supply chain business, from which he retired in June 2009.
Peter is currently the co-founder and non-executive Chairman of AIM listed Northbridge Industrial Services plc, a manufacturer and hirer of specialty engineering products. He is also Chairman of the Four Winds Partnership Limited, providing consultancy services to the leasing sector and is non-executive Chairman of two charities - the London Hostels Association and the Sunningdale Hope Trust.
